LIKELY CATCH

HADDOCK

The haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) is a marine fish distributed on both sides of the North Atlantic. Haddock is a popular food fish and is widely fished commercially. The haddock is easily recognized by a black lateral line running along its white side. Haddock is a very popular food fish, sold fresh, smoked, frozen, dried, or to a small extent canned. Haddock, along with cod and plaice, is one of the most popular fish used in British fish and chips. Fresh haddock has a clean, white flesh and can be cooked in the same ways as cod

ATLANTIC WOLFISH

The Atlantic wolffish (Anarhichas lupus), also known as the seawolf, Atlantic catfish or ocean catfish. The Atlantic wolffish’s distinguishing feature, from which it gets its common name, is its extensive teeth structure. Its dentition distinguishes the Atlantic wolffish from all the other members of the Anarhichadidae family. Both the lower and upper jaws are armed with four to six fang-like, strong, conical teeth. Behind the conical teeth in the upper jaw, there are three rows of crushing teeth.

ATLANTIC COD

Cod is the common name for the genus Gadus of demersal fishes, belonging to the family Gadidae. The Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua), lives in the colder waters and deeper sea regions throughout the North Atlantic. Cod is popular as a food with a mild flavour and a dense, flaky white flesh. Cod livers are processed to make cod liver oil, an important source of vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E andomega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA).
